Christians in Action

At Billings First United Methodist Church . . .

We believe the best of life is found in Christian discipleship, in its joys, its call to service, its praise of God, its companionship with others, and its delight in a personal relationship to Jesus Christ.  You are invited to join us and, with head, heart and hands, share in life with Christ.

  Mission & Outreach

All Persons are included in the circle of God's love.

CLEANING YOUR CLOSETS? Save yourself the trouble of a garage sale and consider donating to the Montana Rescue Mission, 2822 Minnesota Ave., or the Family Services, 1824 1st Ave. N. It’s tax deductible and a worthy mission!

Believing that God calls us to share our faith beyond the boundaries of our congregation, First United Methodist Church seeks to bring God's love to the world in many ways from the personal ministries of our members to congregational support for worldwide missions, which include Habitat for Humanity, Intermountain Children’s Home, and Mozambique missionary support.

In the Billings community, many of our members are involved in government, and in both paid and voluntary service. We support their ministries with our prayers and with spiritual/emotional encouragement.

On the first Sunday of each month, we bring our gifts to the community Food Bank.

On the second Sunday of each month, we bring recyclable cans and papers.

Our lay members have the opportunity to be used as compassionate Christian caregivers through Stephen Ministry. With these care giving skills they share burdens and bring comfort and hope to many individuals in our church and community.

Our church also ministers to community needs through support for the Rescue Mission, and Family Services, and as co-hosts for the Interfaith Hospitality Network.

Special offerings as well as regular offerings throughout the year, give our members and friends an opportunity to participate in many mission efforts including Browning Day Care at the Blackfeet Mission of Northern Montana, through Seminary Scholarships, our covenant relationships with national and world missionaries, and world wide disaster relief through UMCOR (United Methodist Committee of Relief.)

We support the diversity of our community.

THE PRAYER ROOM

Our blood courses through our arteries and veins, propelled forcefully by the muscle of our heart.  Blood carries warmth and oxygen and nutrition to our cells, bathing them with life itself.  Blood also returns from our cells with carbon dioxide and products of metabolism, cleansing and revitalizing the cells.

Prayer is very much like our circulation, our way of staying in intimate contact with our God.  We offer our prayers to God with praise, with joy, with concern, and with need.  God returns to us listening, understanding, caring, and healing.

Let this place of prayer be where our hearts freely flow to our God, and where our God finds us for healing.  It’s the “heart room” that sends life into our individual spiritual lives and into the entire corporate ministry of our church.

The Prayer Room was written by Dr. Alan Muskett, local cardiologist and member of First United Methodist Church.

I am no longer my own, but thine. Put me to what you will. Rank me with whom you will. Put me to doing; put me to suffering. Let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee, exalted for thee or brought low for thee. Let me be full. Or let me be empty. Let me have all things. Or let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal. Amen
-John Wesley
